Asking your advice for the best mattress to purchase.?

I will be purchasing a new mattress. What is the best mattress to purchase. What are your thoughts re a pillow top mattress. They can't be flipped over. Is that a disadvantage?Asking your advice for the best mattress to purchase.?
My better-half and I just purchased a king-sized Restonic mattress set from Furniture land. Our bed has memory foam plus the pillow-top. It is the best thing that we have bought for ourselves. I have scoliosis and he has arthritis in his back. Since we have gotten the bed, our backs do not give us problems as before...and being that I am the bed-hog in the family, he gets a much better sleep during the night....I don't try to kick him out of bed anymore in my sleep. For the flipping problem, we rotate the bed clock-wise every 6 months to keep our bodies from leaving impressions in the mattress. Do what we did. In the store we tried every bed out, laid on the bed in our favorite positions for longer than a couple of minutes. Make sure that the bed that you purchase is the one you'll want. We also took out a wwarrantyfor ten years that covers anything on the bed exept ';I don't like it';. Take advantage of any warranties if possible that comes with the bed. Good luck.Asking your advice for the best mattress to purchase.?
caution before purchasing something like a memory foam mattress go to a hotel that has them and try it out -i hated it! and was grateful for the advice .as far as purchasing a new mattress buy the best you can afford, i like pillow top no they can't be flipped just turned so if you have little ones or are proned to spills that can be a factor (life expectancy of a mattress is about the same no matter the style)best thing i can tell you is really try them out don't be afraid to roll around on it in the showroom !
I say go with a foam mattress. Tempur-Pedic is the best-known, but quite expensive. Ours a 10-in thick queen is from Overstock.com (no brand?), bought for about $600 (one third the cost of Tempur-Pedic). Foam molds to the contour of your back and supports you all along your length. Walmart has an 8-in queen for $250. I think you'll like foam a lot!

Pillow top just doesn't support the body evenly.
