Puppies are 13 weeks old and are usually very good about not going in the house. Lately one of the puppies, I'm not sure which has been wetting the bed that is out for them when they are out of their crate.I have 2 male chihuahua's and need advice on the best way to get them housebroken.?
Small dogs are much harder to train then older ones, try more walks for longer periods of time they tend to just spray a little in every place and in doing so they ont fully empty their bladder which ends up in the house, Longer walks and treats after words. Increase the the frequency of your outings. Take away the bed they are peeing on for now and watch them like a hawk. Make the crate time longer and the house time less until they pick up on what is expected of them. Peeing on ';their'; bed is showing you that they have NO idea. Taking them out more would solve this.
Take the dogs outside for more ';potty breaks.'; When they do their business outside, praise them for the positive behavior. Keep doing this until they can physically show you that they have to go outside and they no longer go in the house.
I've never used crates, but its just preference, so don't worry about it. Just try to watch them very closely, and if you see one eying around as if it is going to piddle, immediately pick it up and put it outside. Make sure you wait for it to piddle and then say good boy, or good job. If they won't go, try walking around a little. If they still won't go, just go back inside with the pup and watch him. Do the same if you catch him while he is peeing. Go outside a lot, and when they pee OUTSIDE make sure you praise them a lot....Hope I helped :)
As silly as it sounds, when they start to sniff and circle (aka the ';Potty Dance';) take them out ASAP. Also, take them out after waking up from naps or sleep and 10 minutes after meals.
the dominate male may be marking his territory if you only have one bed pad for both. Try two small beds even if side by side.
