Type A personality--10 points for the best advice. Thank you?

Everybody said I have type A personality because I am very goal oriented, hard working, success, stress, controlling, and worship perfection.

My boss recently told me that my character makes a great worker, but not a great boss.

How many people agree? Why? Any advice or suggestion?Type A personality--10 points for the best advice. Thank you?
With experience comes the ability to deal with the day to day problems. Don't be to quick to become a boss. Learn, listen and earn the trust of the higher ups. A boss would rather have someone he can trust over a good worker.Type A personality--10 points for the best advice. Thank you?
i agree with your boss. i'm a type A which means i'm really good at getting my own work done, but when i'm in charge of other people, i tend to stress out and micromanage, which is counterproductive.

of course, you'll never know how you'll do as a boss unless you give it a shot. you might be fabulous!
how rude of ure boss! uhmm well i guess it would all depend on ure workers. u would probably drive them till they want to quit seeing wat a perfectionist and a control freak (no offense intended)u are. loosen up and u'll make a good boss. but ure qualities are a good worker- every bosses' dream worker. OR MAYBE hez just saying this cuz he doesn't want u to quit and make ure own company that'll compete against his
It sounds to me that those characteristics would make an excellent boss. At least the boss I would like to have, but then again it would depend on the job you are working at. Perfection and being in control is okay, but for some smaller jobs where perfection is not needed, a relaxing enviroment might be better suited and make co-workers feel more comfortable. Too relaxed is just as bad as too strict though. I would let your boss know that you are interested in improving and received his imput. I would not suggest telling him you want a promotion. Too eager is bad and no one wants to feel like they may be in competition for his/her own job. Dress appropriately for your position. A suit and tie would not be good for a janitor's position as well as shorts and a Lucky Charms shirt is not good for a buisness industry. I hope this helps.
I think what your boss really means is that you probably have a very judgmental attitude towards others. Also perfection is a mask for anger and feelings of inadequacy and this is why you are intolerant to others mistakes. The anger is a mask for unforgiveness. Bottom line; forgive and you will be able to move ahead freely, and do very well, I'm surel
in your guest for perfection do you factor in mistakes. A true perfectionist would allow for mistakes.
Umm, well that depends on what you and they mean in a type-A personality. I'm taking it as A as in asshole. No hard feelings, just my perspective. I usually don't care about type personalities, i go by my zodiac sign's personality, which fits me to a T.
I agree. People with type A personality are usually perfectionists with no tolerance of mistakes. A boss cannot be like that because such behaviour lowers the morale of their workers.
What kind of work do you do?

Hmm, well, it depends on your entire personality if you would be a bad boss.

Some type A's are so goal-oriented that they forget to be pleasant to people. I know one person who is definitely Type A, but so much so that she never even think to say hello to somebody passing by her. This person isn't trying to be rude, but it always thinking about the next project, or what she is working on at the time. So a lot of people feel put off by her. It is as if they are getting in her way, and they feel the ';get out of my way'; rage.

As a boss you need to be able to balance people skills with your goal motivations. You would need to be able to be sensitive to your employees needs and not push them too hard. You would want to push them enough to get things done, but not so much that they would give up. Type A's usually push people much too hard, because they think that everybody should be willing to work as much as the Type A does. But, alas, it just ain't so. :O)

So if you're a nice person, then you'd be a great boss... if not, then maybe work on it. Or it could even be that your boss is afraid of your success and that you will overtake him/her. So he is trying to get you back away. Just a thought.

Good luck!
What your boss said is not true. Type A personalities love to take charge and often become the leaders and the bosses.
I'm not sure what type A and type B personality is. I usually don't fit into the usual category, so I am probably a mix of both, but I lean more toward one. I remember hearing of this someone before but forgot.
Oh that is not true. Type A folks make great management if they learn not to expect everybody to be as motivated as they are themselves. They need to allow people to be whatever 'type' they are, and if they can be tolerant in that one way, they are the best bosses.
is there a type b??
OW...rough boss...I agree because that what an A type is, the want to be perfect and suceed when you can (although you strees over it). Advice, look for other A type people. Suggestions, make everyone like u :]. (Especially ur boss)
A greater worker : Knows exactly what to do to accomplish a single task.

To manage, is to organize ppl and give ppl goals or tasks according to there specialization to accoplish your single goal. the ' Big picture' And know who fits where in the puzzle of managing ppl is a skill of practice.
